I love how this prompt challenges you to just go a little out of the box, a little crazy. I actually knew exactly which stamping plate I wanted to use and it’s from the new Born Pretty Store release. I did buy these plates for myself and I genuinely think this is one of the best stamping investments I have made in a while because the designs all stamp so well and offer a lot of options.
Here we are – the image (from BP42) is made up of lots of different doodles including an all seeing eye on a hand and a white of fortune (or pizza depending on how hungry I am when I look at these nails). To add to the quirky factor I wanted to do my hands differently but still have it be a connecting manicure.
Yes… I smudged… it made me sad. I started with a white base (OPI Alpine Snow) and then used the smush technique to add neon blobs with my stamper – this technique keeps the polish thin and it dries quickly. I used China Glaze Surfin For Boys (coral), Yellow Polka Dot Bikini (tennis ball yellow), Kiwi Cool-ada (green), Sun Worshipper (yellow). I stamped using Konad Special Polish Black and then added a small black bow from a wheel sent to be for review by Born Pretty Store (you can see it used HERE too). I made small tutorial that shows you the process! Please be patient with it not being perfect, I am still working on my set up!
I couldn’t get neon on black without a lot of hassle and so I decided to use Daring Digits More Dots. I started with one coat of Nails Inc New York Noir for opacity and then added a thick coat of More Dots to get lots of glitter for those patches of colour. I used a coat of HK Girl to speed dry the layers (it was getting late!) and then stamped over the top, this time in Konad Special Polish White. White bow was used this time and I actually hadn’t stamped very well on my middle finger so used the bow to cover the bald patch. It’s quirky, there are no rules here. I really enjoyed wearing this mani out and about – I usually try and have matching hands when I leave the house but this mani is matching… in its own way. Now these bows do not snag on things (I do have long hair and have gotten changed/showered a couple of times) and show no sign of going ANYWHERE even though they are just held on with a layer of topcoat.

This is a great manicure. I love the abstract pattern and colors.
Thank you Cindi! 😀 Which hand is your favourite?
I love these, so colourful and out there 🙂
This is so fun looking! I think you did a great job. 🙂
Thank you!!!
Very fun!
Thank you 🙂
Very cool! I have never thought of blobbing polish out like that and picking it up with my stamper. What a clever idea! I think your video was great, the words just flashed by a little too quickly for me to read.
I’ll try and keep them up there a little longer next time! 😀
How fun 🙂 this screams 90’s to me and I love it
lol kind of makes me think of the loud Fresh Prince jackets… do you know what I mean?
It’s very quirky looking and I like it a lot!
Thank you!
I love More Dots! I like how both hands are different, but still coordinate with each other. Very nice!
Thank you 😀 It’s probably not up everyones street but it was a fun mani!
I love this Manna!
Quirky but beautiful! Gotta check your video out tonight! I’m trying to work on a set up as well!
Ooo can’t wait to see your videos! I am happy with the camera position just got to work on lights and backdrop – my camera decided it was too intense and decided to start strobing half way through.
That is amazing! I love the video – what a great way to get a multicolored base.
😀 thank you. You can also gently scrape the colours together too for a different effect.
I absolutely love this idea!!!! I never thought to blob polish and apply it with my stamper, definitely going to try this out for myself, well done!!!
😀 thank you! Look forward to seeing your blob&smush manis in the future 😉
Very fun, I love your quirky manicure!
Thank you lovely!
I absolutely love this mani! So funky and 80s. Born Pretty makes some of my favorite stamping plates. I’ll have to pick this one up!
Definitely do – in fact almost all of their new plates are worth picking up. I bought both sets and I think there are only 2 plates that I am not super keen on but thats a personal preference rather than there being anything wrong with the plates!
I adore quirky, abstract manis! This one turned out great! Thank you for the tutorial on the smush technique, that was very intriguing!
Loooove these quirky nails!! So awesome!
I love these. The neon is perfect under the fun stamp.
Beautiful mani
Such a fun mani. You definitely nailed the quirky portion of it, haha.
This looks great! I love that plate too 🙂
