Feeling Fruity

A little group of friends and I decided it would be good fun to do a collab and settled on the theme of fruit – something fun and bright and open to lots of different manicures. I am not going to lie, I struggled with this manicure and even the final result I am not 100% happy with. I am not sure what I really wanted but I always try really hard for collabs and challenges so put a lot of pressure on myself to come up with something awesome. I ran out of time and inspiration so thought I would share with you the best of my mani attempts for this collab…

Fruit3

I started with two coats of OPI Toucan Do It If You Try which is a great slightly dusty orange from last years spring collection. Onto this I added an assortment of caviar balls, square rhinestones, a heart stuf and two fimo slices. This is my first time ever using fimo slices but these were really good fun and easily held in place by topcoat. This is probably the most 3D elements I have ever used in a manicure but it’s all about being bright and fun. I just used a little bit of topcoat on the end of a dotting tool to pick up and position the bits and pieces.

Then I used these orange cross sections from MoYou Tropical 07 on my pointer and pinky. So many fruit on this stamping plate and yet this is always the image I come back to – you can see it used HERE in another orange themed mani.

Looking at this mani now I actually kind of like it and it is totally getting me in the mood for a smoothie! I think perhaps I could have done a better job with clean up on these nails. ANYWAY, a good thing about these is they require no nail art skill at all and are very easy to go on both hands! I am feeling the monday gloom lifting… are you?

Hope you all had a great weekend! Sorry, no weekend nails from me this week but I do have lots of other exciting things in the works. What did you have on your nails this weekend?

It looks delicious! It’s hard to know how to incorporate limos sometimes but this turned out great.

Hehe I go through phases with what I like on my nails – at the moment I am all about the 3D elements but then I don’t have to worry too much about my nails being conservative or super practical. That said, I haven’t had anything fall off my nails for a long time – usually the polish chips first.

Such a fun and summer ready mani, love the little fruit fimos. I have so many of them but never know exactly how to use them lol.

Aww thank you Amanda! I do my best to be creative with my nails – try and keep things as interesting as possible. Sometimes it works out well and other times…
3D stuff really used to get on my nerves too but now as long as its on my ring or middle finger it doesn’t bother me. I guess it’s just one of those things you get used to.
